Introduction

In this guide we’ll be showing your how to apply a Forward back cover film to the back of our phone. We’re using an iPhone XR in this guide however the steps followed are transferable to any phone.

We’re applying one of our custom back films, if you’d like to make your own custom films you can follow our guide here.

  1. Load the film into your machine and perform a cut for your device. Follow our guide here if you're unsure how to perform a cut.

  3. Using your Forward screen laminating cleaner and a cleaning cloth , clean the back of your phone. Make sure you remove any residue or dust from the back of the phone

  5. Lower the back film onto the back of the phone. We find it's easiest to lower the top end of the film first so we can line up where it will sit on the camera. As you lower the film be mindful of the camera, apple logo and any other areas on the phone that need to be uncovered. The goal is to line the back film up as accurately as possible.

    • Don't worry if you stick the film down and it doesn't look quite right. Peel the film off the phone and try again. The sticky layer you're using in this step is a temporary sticky layer used only to line the film up. The final sticky layer sits underneath this one and we'll be using it in future steps.

  6. Once you're happy that your back film is in the correct position. You can start peeling the film back to expose the next sticky layer. Starting at the bottom of the film towards the charge port, lift the film up with your fingers and peel it backwards. Hold the top of the film down with an application tool to avoid peeling it off.

  7. As you can see in this step, by peeling the back film backwards, it splits the bottom of the film to expose the next sticky layer.   8. Peel the top of the back film backwards to the middle of the phone until the two sticky layers split. Use your application tool to hold the bottom of the back film down. Use your application tool to hold the bottom of the back film down.

  10. Use your applicator tool and run it around your phone's camera and speaker to make sure it's stuck down well.

    • If using a newer phone model with multiple camera's we advise you use a hot air rework station to firmly stick the back film around the camera's. We cover this in our video guide linked at the top of this guide.
